“Playing off the classical greco-roman idea of “muse”, being a source of inspiration for all things art and music. Sperry’s figures are emblematic of the energetic creative spirit represented in his work and the bands he showcases. Influenced by the psychedelic art nouveau style, Chuck has propelled the American rock poster genre to a new level of fine art status with his print work. With impeccable precision, Sperry utilizes up to 9 color layers in his complex designs, the result is dazzling display of female figures enveloped in expressive patterns. ”
Muses is a retrospective show of Chuck Sperry’s most iconic works. Check it out at the Spoke Art Gallery in San Francisco.
“Food Pantone is a list of color tones captured by the natural colors of the food. In Italian it is often said "yellow as a lemon, red as a tomato,” so I decided to photograph fruit, vegetables, etc. to create a different palette from the usual.“

“Through simple phrases spelt out in neon, Etchells create miniature narratives, moments of confusion, awkwardness, reflection and intimacy in public and gallery settings. Invoking a story, or projecting an idea out-of-context into the situation of the work invites us in, but into what exactly we can’t be sure.”
For their single “Blue Ice”, Swedish band The Shout Out Louds sent fans a kit for making a record out of ice. Pour water into a silicon mold, freeze it, then play the record.
